Career and Technical Education affords students the opportunity to apply and adapt learned academic and technical skills in simulated workplace environments. CTE staff work collaboratively with all academic areas to develop curriculum that assists students in identifying relevant learning connections using common instructional vocabulary and workplace applications. Daily instructional strategies focus on developing literacy, math and locating information skills using critical thinking, problem solving and team work. Entrepreneurship and student run businesses provide learning opportunities related to Business/Marketing, Automotive Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Early Childhood Education, Education and Restaurant/Catering Hospitality Management.
National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC), achieved based on scores earned on the WorkKeys Test (Reading for Information, Applied Math, Locating Information), links qualified individuals with employers who recognize the value of skilled job applicants. The National Career Readiness Certification tells employers that potential employees have essential core employability skills that are essential for job success. This comprehensive employment tool available via the internet offers initial certification, certificate registration, a talent bank and a job bank.
