Free Summer Meals
School District U-46's free meal distribution will continue this summer with some changes to schedules and locations.
Starting Monday, June 7, U-46 will be distributing “Summer Meal Boxes” from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every weekday. In each box, there will be a week's worth of breakfast and lunch meals for the children in the household.
To make this convenient, there will be anywhere from three to a dozen sites on any given day where a family can pick up their weekly Summer Meal Box. The detailed schedule is below.
These meals, which are for children 18 and under, are packaged to take home. No paperwork is required to pick up the meals - just visit the pick-up location most convenient for you.
U-46 students attending summer programs at schools that serve as distribution sites will be provided a free individual breakfast and lunch, packed for grab and go. Students attending all-day Right at School and Boys & Girls Club programs will have meals served at the sites.
If you have any questions, please send them through Let’s Talk, using the “Food Distribution” button.
For vegetarian meal requests, we cannot guarantee that we will have vegetarian meal substitutes consistently throughout the summer. Options are resources are limited. Alert the foodservice staff about your request so she/he can aim to provide vegetarian options if able.
Menus are posted for summer in-person meals. Please plan accordingly for those days where non-vegetarian options are being served.
