• Principal For a Day 2018

  • Ralph Martire More than 50 community leaders experienced school life from a new perspective in December, serving as a guest Principal for a Day at buildings across the District. Participants included police officers and firefighters; leaders in the areas of medicine, finance, business, and education; and more than a dozen elected officials, as well as former U-46 Superintendent Dr. Jose Torres. The guests then convened for a luncheon sponsored by Marco, a leading technology services provider, at Villa Olivia in Bartlett. The featured guest speaker was Ralph Martire, executive director of the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability, who was involved in the successful effort to enact Evidence-Based School Funding reform in Illinois focused on equity for all students and schools. The reform brought additional state funding to District U-46: $24 million during the 2017-18 school year and $18 million during the 2018-19 school year.
