Safety Drills
All school safety drills are conducted during the school day when students and staff are present. The annual school safety drills conducted are as follows:- 3 fire drills - one with the fire department present to observe and provide direction and feedback.
- 1 severe weather - commonly referred to as a tornado/ high wind drill.
- 1 bus evacuation - conducted by the Transportation Department.
- 1 Run, Hide, Fight (previously known as lock down) drill or law enforcement drill - conducted with the police department present to observe and provide direction and feedback.
Weather
Each school building and department is equipped with a NOAA Public Alert Radio, which warns of severe weather, provides forecasts and Homeland Security alerts. School District Safety and Security, Plant Operations, Grounds, and Transportation departments subscribe to a weather forecasting service specific to the attendance area. This service provides email forecasts, warnings and alerts.
