Our intermediate and middle school literacy courses have been designed to integrate and enforce skills in the area of reading, reading comprehension, writing, listening, speaking, thinking, discussion, and grammar (usage, mechanics), depending on the course in which a student is enrolled.  Students will be exposed to a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts to help build reading stamina required for successful completion of high school Language Arts courses and post-secondary courses.  An emphasis will be placed on the use of technology, when possible, to develop the overall experience of digital literacy.  Activities for all secondary literacy courses can include but are not limited to: reading, writing, small group work, individual and group projects, common local summative/formative assessments, and learning to effectively use academic vocabulary in written and oral contexts.

Please contact your child's school or LA/Reading teacher to get more information about your child's specific LA or Reading course.

Please note that in U-46, Language Arts includes English and Spanish Language Arts.
