The literacy block in our class will be the largest portion of the day. During this block of time students will engage in many literacy based activities. This time will also incoroporate writing and spelling. Students will also participate in centers. Center time will focus on math, writing, word work, reading, and guided reading groups. Guided reading groups is a small group time with me. 

It is important for readers to practice their sight words. These are words that are most commonly found in reading. This link will provide a list of sight words, as well as some activity ideas. It is a good idea to practice these words daily with your child. 

Sight words
