• Mr. Ryan Corcoran joins Washington Elementary School as the Principal for the 2024-25 school year. Mr. Corcoran is a resident of Elgin and brings a wealth of experience and passion to our school community. He has been an esteemed educator in U-46 since 2017, serving as a Resident Administrator at Horizon and Huff elementary schools. During his time there, he cultivated a culture of respect, collaboration, and excellence while building strong relationships with students, teachers, and families.

    Prior to his administrative role, Mr. Corcoran excelled as an 8th grade language arts teacher and instructional coach at Larsen Middle School, where he provided invaluable support and coaching to both students and staff. His leadership in developing inclusive curriculum and assessments, as well as his expertise in integrating technology for diverse student needs, has greatly impacted the learning environment. Mr. Corcoran's educational journey began as an 8th grade language arts teacher in DeKalb School District 428, showcasing his commitment to nurturing young minds.

    Outside of his professional life, Mr. Corcoran enjoys spending quality time outdoors, immersing himself in literature, and channeling his musical talents through playing the drums and guitar. His passion for learning and dedication to student success make him an invaluable addition to our school community. 


     

     

     

    Mrs. Maria Martin-Bowman is the proud Assistant Principal of Washington Elementary.  Mrs. Martin-Bowman joined U-46 and the Washington team during the 22/23 school year.  She joined the district with a wealth of experience.  She began her career in CPS later moving on to Schaumburg’s SD54, where she began as a dual language art teacher and later moved on to become a behavior coach.  As she progressed through her career she began to seek out additional leadership opportunities, opportunities in which she could positively impact the communities that she served.  

    Mrs. Martin-Bowman believes in creating equitable and enriching opportunities for ALL students,  viewing parents and the community as powerful partners.  She believes that building positive relationships with and between staff and students is a key component in not only the academic, but also the social emotional growth of students.  She is proud to work alongside the Washington teachers and staff to create valuable learning experiences for ALL students.  

    Outside of school, Mrs. Martin-Bowman is a wife and mother of two children.  She enjoys camping with her family and finding new brunch spots, and parks throughout Chicagoland.
