U-46 Team Member: Mike Basich
Mike Basich has been with the District for 28 years. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1988 and is currently teaching AP Humanities at Bartlett High School.

Dawn Weltzien, Elgin High School 1982 graduate, is now a Special Education Teacher at Ellis Middle School. Her favorite memory as a U-46 employee is finding her Ellis family and making lifelong friendships.

Larkin High School 1989 graduate, Amy Stewart, is currently teaching the fifth grade at Fox Meadow Elementary School. Her favorite thing about working in the District is creating lifelong relationships with her students.

Elizabeth Brunner graduated from Streamwood High School in 2001. She now teaches English Language Arts at the middle school she attended as a student, Canton.

Jamie Buesse teaches reading and math at Kenyon Woods Middle School. She graduated from Streamwood High School in 1999.

Rebecca Peterson, 2012 Bartlett High School graduate, is now a teacher at Larkin High School. One of her favorite teachers include her senior year creative writing teacher, Ms. Batz.

Six years ago, Jacob Yarwood was an academic high achiever in Bartlett High School’s Science, Engineering and Technology Academy program. Now he literally reaches for the sky as an officer and pilot in the U.S. Air Force.

Pat Sutphin has been scuba diving and skydiving. He’s investigated paranormal activity, and he crawled through a cave trying to solve a decades-old missing person case. His passport for all that adventure has been a camera.

Kathryn Balk graduated from South Elgin High School in 2015 and is now an orchestra teacher in U-46. She has been with the District for two years. Her favorite teacher was Ms. Dicker, who taught English.
